Introduction to the A level NEA project
CP509 Live remote training course
This CPD course helps you guide A-level Computer Science students through their NEA projects, focusing on analysis, design, testing, and evaluation.
Skip to course bookingThis course equips new A-Level Computer Science teachers with the necessary skills to guide students through the NEA project, focusing on analysis, design, testing, and evaluation.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for new A-Level Computer Science teachers seeking to build confidence in supporting students with the A-Level NEA.
Topics covered
- Analysis: Understanding problem analysis, identifying stakeholders, and establishing success criteria using SMART objectives.
- Design: Communicating project design through decomposition diagrams, data modelling and explaining the application of standard algorithms using pseudocode and database design with SQL.
- Testing and Evaluation: Iterative testing approaches, stakeholder feedback, and alignment of solutions with success criteria.
How long is this course?
3-hour remote CPD, with a mix of facilitator and participant-led activities.
How will you learn?
You will learn through interactive sessions, practical discussions, and hands-on activities that simulate NEA tasks.
Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify and analyse problems for NEA projects.
- Develop success criteria using SMART objectives.
- Explain how to effectively communicate the design of NEA projects, including the use of standard algorithms and data structures.
- Use testing methodologies to iteratively improve project solutions.
- Gather and apply stakeholder feedback in evaluation.
- Effectively align project outcomes with the initial success criteria.
