Help! How do I teach primary computing?  

Date: 8 to 9 February 2024 

This residential is perfect for new teachers and those who would like to develop their confidence in teaching computing. 

From this CPD you will take away: 

  • improved computing subject knowledge 
  • skills to use Scratch to teach programming  
  • three strands which make up the computing curriculum  
  • the range of activities you can adopt to teach computing effectively

Developing excellence in computing in your classroom 

KS1 date: 6 to 7 February 2024 

KS2 date: 22 to 23 February 2024 

Regardless of your expertise or existing knowledge levels, this residential is open to all teachers of primary computing. Spend 2 days getting to grips with the computing content in your key stage and improving your subject knowledge and skills. 

From this CPD you will take away: 

  • a range of effective approaches for teaching computing 
  • understanding of how computing progresses through your key stage  
  • the 3 key areas of computing computer science (including lots of hands-on activities such as programming with Scratch Jr and Scratch) 

You will also understand how to develop key skills such as digital writing, painting, and digital literacy, ensuring that your pupils are able to be safe and secure in the online world.

Developing the established primary computing leader  

Date: 5 to 6 March 2024 

Are you a subject leader looking to move on from basic leadership? If so, this course is for you! 

From this CPD you will take away: 

  • improved leadership of teaching computing  
  • ways to support programming and context-based learning across your school 
  • effective approaches to support other teachers with effective approaches 
  • freely available tools to improve your teaching and leadership

This course is for all computing leaders and teachers with an interest in computing across the primary curriculum.
