To help you choose which to attend, here is a summary of the different types of events.
Discovery Days
Discovery Days are large-scale, whole-day events for Year 11–13 students that aim to inspire students about higher education and careers in computer science. Each Discovery Day will feature expert speakers from industry and academia, current degree students and apprentices, and creative hands-on workshops. Teachers are welcome to attend too.
Student Masterclasses
Student Masterclasses are for A level students who already have some knowledge of computer science and want to learn more. Each session introduces a computer science concept and gives you the skills and confidence to apply it in a programming or physical computing activity. You will also find out more about the Isaac Computer Science platform.
Teacher CPD
Teacher CPD events are designed to support A level Computer Science teachers to build their knowledge and confidence in teaching the subject at this level. You will explore computer science concepts in depth, and you will be able to adapt what you learn for use in the classroom. We’ll also show you how to use the teacher functions on the Isaac Computer Science platform.
More news and events coming soon
From January 2020, we will be coordinating student and teacher events at the NCCE Computing Hubs as well. Look out for more news, plus further dates in other locations, later this term. In the meantime, you can find our full event listings here
